Re-hearse

On the way to work...

This utility box is titled Mapped Out. Like the two below it, it's just in front of the Law Society, hence Justice.

More Utility Box Art

The first one of these is just outside work - and I think the "gate" in the title must refer to St James' Gate...

The second one is very near my bus stop. I noticed it and stopped to take a couple of photos. It reminds me a little of some of  Escher's drawings, especially the tessellations with fish  - Tessellation 99 on the page I have linked to (it's listed alphabetically under F for fish).

It was a nice sunny day ;-).

It evidently was still a work in progress, because the next day I was in work I noticed it had some further additions - but still no title. I'll check on that tomorrow!

Quick snaps

I was coming down the quays last night and spotted this great decorated utility box. Unfortunately I was in an express bus so it wasn't in the bus lane - and a taxi drew up just as I was taking the photo - but now I know where it is, I'll make a point of walking past some time soon.

And a treat this morning - I was afraid to get closer to the window in case I scared it away, and it was a dull grey, damp morning so the light wasn't great, but it's been several years since I last saw a bullfinch in the garden. This one was breakfasting on dandelion seeds.

On the way to work...

I took most of these photos on Tuesday morning - it was a clear bright morning, and I needed to lodge a cheque and buy some stamps, so I got the bus in to town and walked back out.
The colours in the Burton Building were looking extra-vibrant in the sunshine.

And another of the City of Physics utility boxes - this one is on the corner at Christchurch.

There's a very small stretch of old thick wall just at Cornmarket. It's not on the side of the road that I normally walk on, but a couple of times I have crossed the road to look at it and see if there was any information about it. There never was, but the new Tourist Trail signs (I used one for me "new" in Clare's photo prompts) now give more information.

You can see the reflection of St. Audeon's Church in the top photo. It's where my sister was married - she lived nearby, and walked to the church and then to the reception in the old Tailor's Hall (guild hall) just across the road.

Friday morning was my day off, and when I went to shut the gate after C had left, I was greeted by this sight ~

I'm glad that it didn't lie. By the time I left to take bottles for recycling and pick up something from the library, I did have to scrape the car but the roads were clear. I liked the way our  sitting-room light reflected in the window, almost like a sun.

On the Way to Work

We've been having an unexpected mild spell and even a little sunshine this week. But in spite of the change in the hour, the mornings have still been fairly gloomy and overcast.

Most of the leaves I see floating down the river have been there a while and are flat in the surface of the water, but this one was still dry enough to have kept its curl; however the current was taking it so fast that it was hard to get a decent photo of it.

Lights reflected in the water

I liked this crow perched on a still-lit spotlight on top of a derelict building. I'd first seen him in front of it, and with the lit lamp it almost looked as if he were looking in a mirror. I still like the way this photo came out, though, even if it didn't capture what I first saw.

Another electricity box cover. Anybody know what the actual correct term for those grey boxes is? I need to check back too to see if I've uploaded the bookshelf one from the end of Capel Street. This one is at Christchurch Cathedral, and it was one of the guys in work who put me onto it, since he has this as his avatar and screensaver at the moment.

DIY weather

A lot of these "boxes" (I don't know what they are, some utility company probably, perhaps electricity; I've never been curious enough to wonder before) in town are getting a new look for the summer. I need to take time to go in and get a few proper photos before they get too weathered with all the wind and rain.
This photo was snatched  from the far side of the road when there was a gap in the traffic.
