November Favourites

Quite a few favourites for November, as life circumstances settled down a little bit...

Fog

We've had a lot of fog recently.
The first two photos were taken with my phone on my day off last week, when I walked to the library and didn't bring my camera because it was so foggy I didn't think it would be worth it.

The second two were taken this morning on the way to work.

Count the birds

Not a great photo or anything like it - but I was fascinated (on one of the few dry mornings last week) to see so many different species of bird that could be captured in one photo. There were also crows and a magpie on the mudflats, but I could't fit them in too. Unusual to see the heron in so much company.
We have - the heron, swans, a pair of cormorants, some mallards, a moorhen (swimming) and merging into the background, a pigeon - along with the usual seagulls. Only black-headed gulls in this shot.

I should have said one of the drier mornings - there was enough of a shower to produce this rainbow. I was walking up the hill and could see someone standing in the tram tracks looking at something. I was trying to work out what she was looking at, and wondered it if was a bluetit  I could see flying across the road. Then I turned round and saw the rainbow.

By the time I left work it was pouring; part of the footpath was like a running stream, so I had to walk on the water-logged grass. Just as well I'd taken time that morning to re-waterproof my shoes.

Sunday in the Park...

Sunday was a beautiful day - the downturn in temperature had just started, but it was a sunny morning with blue skies and we took a walk in the park in the morning.
The background of the picture with the female mallard ties in with the arty look of the gull in my header photo! The first photo is a jay - I was disappointed not to get a side view with the barred wings, but we really enjoyed watching him.

October Favourites

Several favourites from the cards I made for the Hope You Can Cling To challenges on Splitcoast, but not much else thanks to a very busy month with a lot going on. Including getting used to a new computer and trying to copy all my files over.

Apparently I took very few photos last November! I remember this one that I am using for my blog header this month - I loved the way the low morning sun reflecting off the wall on the water almost looked like a painting.

September Favourites

Not a lot... we had a lot going in which left me less time than normal. I don't really have time either to choose another photo for the header; the one I have used was from our trip to Clare last October, taken at Lough Bunny. We'd hoped to get away for a long weekend this October too, but it isn't going to happen, I don't think.

Birds

Quick snaps at Heuston Station this morning. In fact there were not just two but three herons up on the wall ~ the first time I've seen more than one at a time.

Non DTGD August Favourites

I had a few favourite cards from August made after Dare To Get Dirty.
And a heron that I saw on my way to work this morning. In fact there were two along the Liffey which I something I don't often see.
Thankfully after the rather cold spell last week the temperatures have risen again - some sunshine would be an added bonus!

This month's header photo of crested grebes is from Lausanne in Switzerland, when we visited last September.

August Favourites

With the Dare to Get Dirty challenge on Splitcoast at the start of August, I might have too many favourites for one post - I'll see how much I can narrow it down.
I also have a couple of birds - a juvenile goldfinch, and a cormorant. I have two photos of the cormorant. If you only saw the first one, you'd think I was along the coast or at least in some estuary somewhere. I love that I see these birds right in the middle of the city. According to the distance Google Maps gives me, this is about 6 kilometres drive from the mouth of the river, so taking off a bit for roads, we're talking about 5 k or about 3 miles. I don't think the river is tidal much further up.
